Deck Building & Design Trends for 2026

In 2026, homeowners are looking at their decks as true extensions of their living space, rather than simply a place for a barbecue and a few chairs. Designs are becoming more intentional, with dedicated areas for dining, entertaining, relaxing, and enjoying the outdoors. Multi-level layouts, built-in seating, privacy screens, pergolas, fire features, and carefully planned lighting are helping transform ordinary decks into comfortable outdoor living spaces that can be enjoyed well into the evening.

Low-maintenance materials and thoughtful details are also a major focus this year. Composite decking continues to be popular because of its durability, resistance to moisture and fading, and reduced maintenance compared with traditional wood. Warm, natural colours and mixed materials—such as composite decking combined with wood, metal, glass, or stone—are creating more customized looks, while integrated stair, railing, and accent lighting adds both safety and atmosphere. Pergolas and other shade structures are also increasingly being incorporated into deck designs, creating defined outdoor “rooms” that provide shade, privacy, and greater comfort.

At Fuerst Class Customs, we believe the best deck isn’t simply the one that follows the latest trend—it’s the one designed around your home, your property, and the way you want to use your outdoor space. From a simple backyard deck to a complete outdoor living area with multiple levels, privacy features, pergolas, lighting, and entertaining spaces, we focus on quality craftsmanship and a design that will look great and perform for years to come.
